  • Dmitry Matvienko leads the Malmö Opera Orchestra in a program dedicated to two major voices of Russian music.

The evening opens with Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 15, written in 1970–71 and often regarded as one of the composer’s most enigmatic works. Composed near the end of his life, the symphony carries an atmosphere of mystery and reflection, echoing the complex relationship Shostakovich maintained with the cultural climate of the Soviet era.

Czech pianist Lukáš Vondráček joins the orchestra for Sergei Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 3, a work known for its intensity and technical demands, and one that remains a landmark of the piano repertoire.

The performance takes place on 10 April at 7pm.

  • Karen Durgaryan conducts the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana at the Teatro Politeama Garibaldi in Palermo on 10 and 11 April 2026 in a programme centred on the vibrant orchestral tradition of Eastern Europe and the Caucasus.

The evening opens with Glinka’s brilliant overture to Ruslan and Lyudmila, a dazzling orchestral showpiece drawn from the composer’s 1842 opera based on Pushkin’s epic tale. Driven by sparkling energy and contrasting lyrical themes, the overture has become one of the most celebrated curtain-raisers in the symphonic repertoire.

The programme continues with Arno Babajanian’s Piano Concerto in E-flat major and Aram Khachaturian’s Symphony No. 2, two works that combine powerful rhythmic vitality, rich orchestral colour, and deeply expressive musical language.

The program concludes with Claude Debussy’s Petite suite in the orchestral transcription by Henri Büsser.

The performance takes place on 13 April at 8pm at Teatro alla Scala

  • Thank you to Müpa Budapest for such a generous and heartfelt welcome of the Latvian National Ballet with Marco Goecke’s Nijinski.

We left with a deep sense of gratitude and connection after two sold-out performances and three radiant days at the Bartók Spring Festival. These were not only moments on stage, but shared experiences - where movement became memory, and where artistry resonated far beyond the theatre walls.

  • „Étonnez-moi” — surprise me — was more than a phrase; it was a credo that defined the visionary spirit of Serge Diaghilev. A true pioneer, he embraced the unexpected and brought together some of the most extraordinary creative minds of his time in his groundbreaking artistic venture, Les Ballets Russes. Today, we celebrate the birthday of this legendary impresario, whose influence still shapes the world of dance.

Fittingly, the Latvian National Ballet arrives in Budapest tonight, presenting Marco Goecke’s powerful work NIJINSKI this Thursday and Friday, April 2 & 3, at Müpa’s Festival Theatre. Don’t miss this opportunity to witness the intensity and brilliance of Diaghilev brought to life by Antons Freimans, soloist of the Latvian National Ballet —a performance as bold and passionate as the man himself.

  • Jérémie Rhorer conducts Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto in concert at the Philharmonie de Paris on 30 March 2026 (20:00).

Together with Le Cercle de l’Harmonie and the Orfeón Donostiarra Choir, Rhorer brings a historically informed approach to Verdi’s dramatic masterpiece. Performed in concert version, the opera reveals its full musical intensity, highlighting the orchestral colours and the dark dramatic tension that shape one of the composer’s most powerful scores.

The cast includes Leonardo Lee in the title role alongside Andrea Carroll (Gilda), Duke Kim (Duke of Mantua), Alexander Tsymbalyuk (Sparafucile) and Victoria Karkacheva (Maddalena).
